How to Use a 4G Electricity Meter?

With the popularization of IoT technology, 4G electricity meters are becoming increasingly popular for remote meter reading and smart electricity management due to their advantages of not requiring network cables and having wide signal coverage. However, many new users are unfamiliar with how to use them. This article will clearly explain the steps for using a 4G electricity meter.

I. Initial Use: Confirmation and Activation

Confirm Activation: First, you need to know that a 4G electricity meter is not simply plug-and-play. It is usually installed and configured by the power company or property management. Before installation, ensure that your area has the corresponding 4G remote meter reading service activated.

Automatic Activation: After installation, the 4G communication module inside the meter will automatically search for a signal and connect to the network. You will see the signal indicator light on the screen stay on or flash, indicating that it is establishing a connection with the data center. This process requires no user intervention; simply wait patiently for a few hours to a day.

II. Daily Use: Inquiry and Payment

For ordinary users, the main uses of 4G meters are data inquiry and electricity bill payment, which are very convenient:

Inquiring about Electricity Data:

Local View: Directly view the meter's LCD screen. The information displayed in a loop usually includes the current total electricity consumption (kWh), remaining balance, and real-time power consumption.

Remote Inquiry (Main Method): This is the core function of 4G meters. You can check your detailed daily and monthly electricity consumption anytime, anywhere by binding it to the power company's official APP, WeChat official account, or online business hall.

Paying Electricity Bills:

Similar to traditional meters, you can recharge your electricity account through the aforementioned official APP, Alipay, WeChat, and other online channels.

After successful payment, the amount will be remotely sent to your meter via the 4G network, requiring no user intervention and greatly improving convenience.

III. Precautions

Signal Issues: Although 4G coverage is wide, if the meter's installation location (such as a deep well or underground signal blind spot) has extremely poor signal, communication may be interrupted. If the indicator light on the meter screen remains off for an extended period or frequently alarms, contact the management department immediately.

No network configuration required: The meter's built-in SIM card and communication parameters are pre-set by the management; users do not need to and should not configure the network themselves.

Safety first: Do not disassemble or operate the meter yourself. All maintenance work should be performed by qualified personnel.

In summary, the 4G meter is incredibly user-friendly. Simply use electricity as usual and complete your inquiries and payments through the online platform. The remaining complex tasks, such as meter reading and data transmission, are all handled automatically by the meter and the backend system.
